1/30/2024 0 Comments Speedy the geo duck mascots![]() We’ve got one more mascot to discuss – perhaps, the most creative costume award belongs to the Gorlok. We’re not exactly sure why the school decided to send a pickle back in time to it’s days as a cucumber, but hey – art is art, right? The Fun fact: Cheetos named this mascot the Number 1 cheesiest mascot back in 2012. That, then, became the fighting pickles and ultimately, morphed into Charlie the Cucumber. Apparently, there was a contest back in the 70’s to choose a mascot and “The Pickles” is what they came up with. While this school may not have an official athletic program, they without a doubt display their artistry through this odd costume. Turns out, there’s a backstory – this mascot’s got history. Ok, we’re still not sure what’s going on here. The Fighting Pickle – Turned Charlie the Cucumber (NSCA): Fun fact: you pronounce the name gooey duck. This is a duck with flare – just look at those high tops and matching umbrella! The fact that he’s wrapped in what appears to be a green burrito just tops off the strangeness. Just what exactly are we looking at here? This seems to be a very abstract interpretation of a…duck? This is clearly no ordinary duck. This is what happens when you throw a little creativity and randomness into the mix: The images of New York deserted, with no cabs passing by, not a person walking around, made me, (but I'm sure, all of you had the same feeling) feel so sad.Have you ever been at a college football game and found yourself wondering just what the other team’s mascot was supposed to be? Not all mascots are created equally. What gave me a sense of void was seeing the most crowded city of all, empty. When is all this going to end?Each of us is so frightned to hear the news on tv, the number of victims that increase each day, ghost towns, deserted cities. A sense of fear, of solitude, of silence crosses the thoughts of every single human on this planet. Our sons and daughters are going to study this particular time in their history books. We are able to see everything from our windowseat, from a different perspective, at home while we read a book, we paint or we write.Īll of us, all the world is living in a dark time, that we will never forget. We can see the sun's rays only from our window, or see a flower that blooms only from our own garden. We aren't able to appreciate it because most of the people in the USA and especially in Italy, must stay home. Who could have a bad day looking at this smiling ball of greenery?īut this year it is different. The United States may be 9th in the world in artichoke production, but #1 in artichoke mascots. Try to stay serious while imagining a coach facing a locker room full of players saying. Gladys the Fighting Squirrel - Mary Baldwin University Allowing the Billiken to rise to mascot status. The Billiken was created after an art teacher in Kansas City, Missouri had a dream about it and it became a phenomenon. You see kangaroos all the time in Ohio too, right? 5. This is the face of the University of Akron, residing in Akron, Ohio. Look into the eyes of this costumed kangaroo.
