Pick up my sci-fi novels Herokiller and Herokiller 2, and read my first series, The Earthborn Trilogy, which is also on audiobook. I don’t know what went wrong here and why they went this outside the box for the sequel, but the risk doesn’t pay off, and that’s a shame.įollow me on Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. There are things to like within it, but it just doesn’t work when the pieces try to fit together. Wonder Woman 1984 is just a weird movie, and not a terribly good one. The entire subplot about this golden armor you’ve seen in the posters seems to be solely about setting up a tribute cameo in the credits of the film. I could not connect the opening sequence of young Diana at the Amazon Olympics with anything that happens thematically in the rest of the film. The unique performances of Pascal and Wiig specifically are quite stellar, but the structure of this film is a mess. But by the end she’s fighting a 100% CGI Cheetah and it just…does not look good. The action is also not quite as good as the previous film, the standout sequence being Diana’s invasion of the White House you’ve seen in the trailers. I like Pine, Pascal and Kristen Wiig here, while Gadot herself seems a little flat this time around.
